Pupuseria La Chicana is a little gem in the heart of Woodland. Tucked away in a strip mall under the shad of a few trees, the restaurant offers a cozy indoor and outdoor environment. I came midday and there were a lot of customers being served after the typical lunch hour. Vegetarian options are available for pupusas and other items. They use fresh avocados on tacos rather than a more liquid sauce. I had a taco and a spinach/cheese pupusa and needed a to go box. It was a lot. I’m not 100% sure about vegan options, but there were several vegetarian options as mentioned. They also have several options for fresh juices including mixing ingredients of your choice. The vibe outside was chill. They are prepared to keep customers cool with ample shading and tables for larger groups and families. They also have heaters above. They played a great Cumbia variety from Raymix to Alfredo Gutierrez thanks to Pandora. The service was excellent - very friendly and just nice. Lastly, the customers I saw here were from a diverse mix. I liked that people from all walks of life seemed to feel comfortable and welcomed here.
INCREDIBLE food, super affordable, we paid around 8 per person and left full and satisfied. Quality of food is great, service is really good, I want to gatekeep but I also want them to have more customers because I think it’s a hidden gem. Already planning my next visit

Delicious pupusas and for a decent price. Got the 2 pupusa combo and it was very filling. I really love the burnt pieces of cheese too. Food takes time, but they advertise that, so expect to wait a little.

This place is built in a retro Taco Bell but this does not serve gringo style tacos! They do both great Mexican and Salvadorean cuisine. The caldo de res on cold days is like a hug from your grandma. The Salvadorean breakfast makes me want a Salvadorean wife! The menudo here truly cures my hangovers. When you go to La Chicana go hungry because in addition to the big portions you get chips with beans as an appetizer and it's a lot of food. You order at the counter but they run the food to your table....what great service! You'll see people there from all walks of life like Woodland old timers to bright eyed students from Davis. This place never disappoints.
Bar far the best Mexican food I’ve had in my lifetime. The tacos, burritos, pozole, enchiladas, and quesadilla are amazing. The agua frescas are delicious too. The staff are really nice, and generous. The price to serving size ratio is cool too. You won’t be disappointed.
Always super delicious food, they make them fresh every order! Always fresh salsas and delicious fresh juices as well. Worth every minute of the wait time.
